Information for charities

Over £10.1 million pounds has been raised at the Bath Half Marathon by the official race charities in the 13 years since the introduction of our Official Race Charity Scheme in 2000. In 2012 a record figure of over £1.5 million pounds was raised by charities, and indications for the 2013 event are that this figure will be surpassed once again

As one of the largest fundraisers in the South West, the Bath Half Marathon represents a valuable revenue stream for a number of charities and voluntary groups. Participation in the event also serves to raise the public profile of charities, particularly for local smaller charities and voluntary groups supporting less popular causes

Entries to the Bath Half Marathon have been heavily oversubscribed for the last 14 years. One of our priorities is to ensure maximum benefit from the places reserved for the Official Race Charities, selection of which is determined by our Charity Director Mel Taylor in consultation with the race committee in accordance with our Charity Selection Criteria, with a particular emphasis on investment of charitable monies within the Bath & North East Somerset area, which suffers the inconvenience of the event

15% of the 15,000 places in next year’s Bath Half Marathon will be reserved for between 70 and 80 Official Race Charities.  These places are allocated by each charity to race entrants in return for an undertaking to fundraise for the respective charity

The application process for existing and new charities to apply for reserved Official Race Charity places has now closed.
